2002-10-28 - 10:59 a.m. One of the things I do in my line of work is transcribe ambulance reports. Part of this task requires that I read the incident report, which is often a long, dense paragraph, and boil it down to brief synopsis and enter it into a field on the computer allowing only 31 characters. This is where the writing degree kicks in. Sometimes, if there's space, I'll add in a descriptive flourish, just to liven things up. I figure, somewhere on the other end of this red-tape laden medical machine there is another person stuck in front of a computer who may need a good, short read.
