MY JOB SEARCH IS COMPLETE!!!!!!
Have I finally landed a swanky new job? No, no, no, m'dear. I'm afraid not.
Yesterday my good buddy Jeremy forwarded a jobposting he had uncovered somewhere. It was an entry level position at an arty PR/Marketing firm. The salary for the position would leave one in a sub-impoverished position, damn near destitute on the streets, but I went for the job anyway, because that's the kind of guy I am. The person I was writing my cover letter to was named Annette.
Now, I know one person in NYC who works in publicity who is named Annette. But, the nature of how I found out about the job was so detached, I just figured New York City, 8.5 Million peeps, lots of arty-ness, lots of PR, what are the odds?
This morning an email sat in the Inbox on my Yahoo account from my friend Annette: "Umm yeah...you have no idea who this is do you?"
So now at least I have the satisfaction of knowing that in my search for more prosperous employment I have achieved the insurmountable task of blanketing New York City in its entirety with my resume and finely crafted cover letters. It's clear to me now to broaden my search and to reach for new possibilities. Look out Newark! Hello Philadelphia! Can anyone say Greenwich CT?
